Microsoft recently invited us to shoot some video at its main European event for IT pros – the people that manage Windows environments. We learned about Microsoft strategies for operational management, and carried out some interviews, so you could hear it from company executives. Needless to say you’ll also want to know the RedMonk Take- which is in the wrap-up below. We go to town on Microsoft management past and future, talk to the coolness that is Powershell, and the fact we’ve moved from Wild West to gray hair in Windows management space.

The interviews:
- System Center Tour – Starting with the week’s news agenda Eric Berg, Director of Product Management, System Center, walks Cote through the product portfolio, focusing on Operations Manager, Configuration Manager, and Virtualization Manager.
- PowerShell Overview and Remote Update – Cote and Jeffrey Snover, the father of PowerShell. There is some great newsy dorky stuff in there about companies adopting Microsoft management scripting platform – and future remote capabilties.
- System Center Strategic Alliances and Partners – I talk to Carl Coken about alliances, partnerships, with commentary on how standards fit with those two.
- Building System Center Management Packs – Cote talks to Barry Shilmover about Management Packs and how to develop them.
disclosure: Microsoft sponsored the video, and paid RedMonk T&E.
