Doesn’t the culture of lies make anyone else feel sick, or are we now totally immune to the Augean nature of the administration. Oh for a Hercules and a river.

Is Intel going to buy VMware from EMC? That would scare a lot of people. VMware is so dangerous for the systems vendors, i can’t imagine it remaining free for long after an IPO.

Here it says 35k users, rather than 100k, but its still a large amount.

I agree with Anant. Open Collaborative Research is the future of research in all areas. But then I would: that’s RedMonk’s model.

James, doubt that EMC would put VMware on the block considering the “future potential” that VMware has.
Although, there’s always a price for everything 🙂

Well the IPO rumours have got to be coming from somewhere Savio. I agree VMware is massively valuable, I am just not sure EMC is the natural home for it. We shall see.

Agree that the IPO is likely more than a rumour. I just don’t know if EMC is willing to completely part with VMware. I’m sure EMC will own the majority of (voting?) shares.
I don’t know – EMC seems a good enough fit for VMware, (if VMware is going to be part of a parent company). If I’m EMC, I’m happy enough to let this baby drive several hundred million of revenue yearly vs. taking a one-time $1B.
But like you said, we shall see 🙂
