I think an afternoon ought to do it. Happy Birthday me.
Why wait until I screw up and get fired to spend more time with my family, when I can do it now, at a time of growing success? My son brought me a card this morning, and left it on my pillow, because Natalie was kindly letting me sleep in from early boy duties. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Slate article here about the classic “leaving to spend more time with my family” excuse.

Happy birthday, James! And have a nice afternoon off.
I want to hear wine details tomorrow, assuming that’s part of the celebration. 🙂
