Blair slams ID cards critics – Public Sector – Breaking Business and Technology News at silicon.com

I take exception to someone browbeating me about modernity when he freely admits he can’t use email.

Tony: you live in a bubble, don’t understand technology and don’t invest in National R&D, but instead throw money at Big Government projects that always fail.

Don’t tell me I am part of the past. We’re out here trying to build the future, and you’re obsessing about how to build outmoded command and control structures.

The UK’s National ID Card scheme, as constituted, is a bad idea, which will almost certainly damage civil liberties in this country, especially given you’re so keen to mashup government and private sector roles with respect to the scheme and its provisions.

It is not us that is stuck in the past.

If one thing defines modernity it is diversity, not the kind of black and white, holier-than-thou snakeoil you peddle. Modernity requires that you adjust to circumstances.

If you think resullts are bad for the Republicans, just wait for the next local elections. Can you please just head off for the US lecture circuit now? You’re not adding any value.

Bye.
