Came across this blog a little while ago. Written by a Sun reseller–a super evangelist for the company in Portugal. I really like Mr Cardoso’s voice. (i should admit he has said something similar about me before – blog fair disclosure).
Jaime is really good on competitive dynamics–you could almost feel him straining at the leash to go after HP high end accounts after they dropped the cluster file system in favor of Veritas code. But he isn’t getting the support he needs from Sun to that end.
He also has some potential JES wins in mind
I really like Portugal because its so beautiful and still has moments untouched by modernity. Sun could do a lot worse that listen to the (micro) conversation. It may not be the biggest market in Europe, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be an important part of Sun’s planning. After all, win in Portugal and more links to Brazil potentially open up.
Sometimes it seems like the coolaid got to him, but that kind of passion is something Sun needs to amplify and celebrate. One thing that worries me at times when i check out Sun blogrolls is they are often all Sun employees. Dont forget to open it out guys. Listen to Portugal. Listen to Europe. blogs can help with tactics and strategy – do you pay an industry analyst for insights into the Portuguese market/ i bet he doesn’t have the account-based insights Jaime has. I am not saying the analyst doesnt have value but i am saying Jaime is a free, committed, resource and is watching the market closely.

Uau, thank you very much for the kind words, both for me and for my country.
Yes, Portugal is a small country but, the first sucess story of OpenWave in Europe was in Portugal, the First (and the second) sale of Midnight Special (a bundle solution of Hierarquical Storage Management), was in this country, the First country in the World to have an ATM network common to ALL the Banks, it was ours. I think there are some really value add in investing in our small market.
