As a female POC in tech, job requirements and internal diversity communications often left Alex feeling alienated and undervalued. In this talk, she discussed how we can all be more inclusive in our technical recruiting efforts, as well as the way the industry talks about diversifying engineering organizations internally without existing and future employees feeling like “diversity hires”. From reviews of (regrettably) real job postings to examples of great (and not so great internal communication strategies), Alex provided the Monktoberfest audience with live, actionable feedback on how we can all better attract a wider pool of candidates from different backgrounds.
