Geek Bags: Waterfield and Crumpler

This week in RedMonkTV, I “profiled” two laptop bags with the help of Dan McWeeney and Matthias Zeller: the Waterfield Cargo and the Crumpler Part and Parcel (I can’t find a direct link to the Part and Parcel, so scroll over on the catalog page):

I’m always on the hunt for a better laptop bag, so it was great drilling these two about their bags. Hopefully I’ll do some more of these little “profiles” and eventually figure out if I should keep the bag I have or get a new one.

  1. I've been using the Naneu Pro Sierra bag ( for a whille now, because it's specifically designed to carry DSLRs, which I now carry everywhere.

I haven't actually been bringing my laptop with me, but that's more because I don't like my laptop, and have been waiting for Leopard to get released.

  2. Danno: Wow, those bags look pretty fun. I’ll have to check them out as well. You know if they have them in-store anywhere?

  3. cote: for professional situations, I've been loving my Jack Spade Drill Nylon File Case:

Expensive, but irreplaceable for those times when you need to wear a suit and take a laptop.

  4. Luis: thanks! That’s the a whole ‘nuther problem, right? The “they’re judging my professionalism by my bag” angle. I think I’m lucky enough to be in a position where I don’t need that sharp looking Jack Spade. But, I do enjoy the muted colors more. I’ve got my eye on either the Part-and-Parcel Crumpler or a bigger one if I can get it in gray or black…maybe brown?

  5. FYI, a quick bit of url hacking gave me the following url for the crumpler bag:

Finger’s x’d it works for you too.

  6. I use the Cargo and love it. Three years old and still looks brand new. More organizational pockets than I can shake a stick at. *Love* it.
