I’ve tracked down the press room for free coffee, muffins, and ‘net. But, I think I might be in the wrong place: perhaps the speaker’s room. We’ll get this post out and walk around to see what else is going on before the keynote at 8:45 this morning.
SAP on the Airplane
As I was telling James this morning, I had an odd enterprisey experience on the plane up from Austin. After I told her that I was on the way to SAP TechEd, the lady sitting next to me — who was quite nice — told me that she uses SAP at work. “I love it!” she said. As I recall, she even said something along the lines of, “man, that SAP/R3 does everything.” She was on the way to another conference, unrelated to her SAP-using day-job as a hospital finance administrator.
Now, as you know, I have a, as some would put it, sick fascination with enterprise software. It’s quite rare, however, to come across a “normal” person who even knows what SAP, Oracle, or others do.
Now of course, I’m in a hotel full of them, and it’ll be nice to drink from the fire-hose.
Meta-Blogging
As a side note, I haven’t found any “official” tag for SAP TechEd related postings. I’ve been using sapteched2006 (mostly in del.icio.us at the moment). Unfortunately for me, technorati seems to be ignoring my blog entries; we’ll see what another email to support yields.
And while I haven’t taken any pictures yet, if you tag your flickr photos with upcoming:event=101673, you can associate them with the upcoming.org entry. It’ll be a nice way to experiment with that new feature.
