Arrived safe and sound this morning from Denver via Frontier, and in the unscheduled time I have until meetings begin this later afternoon I’ve caught up on some comments, caught a quick workout, and am about to head for some lunch.
Before I forget, and because I screw some part of it up every time I’m out, here’s the process for catching the BART (San Francisco’s version of the Subway, T, Max, etc) from SFO to the Palace Hotel if you’re flying Frontier. I can’t always do this because of scheduling, but it’s quite a bit cheaper than a cab – not to mention more ecologically friendly:
- Exit, follow signs for “AirTrain”
- Follow tunnel to parking garage, make a right and walk 60 feet over to “D” section
- Head up stairs, catch “Blue” Airtrain (the Red one will get you there, it’ll just take a lot longer)
- Go three stops (passing Terminals 3, G/International), exit at BART station
- Pay for BART ticket (don’t use American Express) – fare to Montgomery is $5.15; default fare starts at $20, subtract until you arrive at the correct fee
- Bear right towards San Francisco / Downtown escalator
- Board train and wait 10 or so stops; when you see Powell, Montgomery is next
- Head left up the escalator, insert your ticket to get out, and look for Market / New Montgomery stairs
- Look to your left

Yes, I have to admit that this is the most unfriendly end-user system I’ve seen.

Alexis: it is weird, isn’t it? i half suspect there’s some reason for it that i’m just not seeing, but it just seems poor design on first blush.
