Another Striper

Originally uploaded by sogrady.

And thus, today I’m back in the office. Not that being at work is so arduous, mind you – I enjoy what I do. It’s just that I enjoy it less than tooling around on the boat in perfect 70 degree weather without a cloud in the sky catching striper like the one pictured all over the cove. A lot less, if you know what I mean.

So this, my first day back in the office, officially closes the books on a week which featured a visit from a Denver friend, a boat trip down to Popham Beach, night fishing at Reid State Park, sea kayaking in Robinhood Cove, a trip to the outlets in Freeport, a walk through the mosquito infested Josephine Newman bird sanctuary, dinner at Ri-Ra in Portland, dinner at the Robinhood Free Meetinghouse, a Manchester, VT wedding, and several excruciating Red Sox losses. Needless to say, getting back into the swing of things here at the office has been somewhat difficult.

But the effort is there; if you’re a client or are considering becoming a client and sent me an email over the last week plus, you either should have received or will shortly receive a reply (thanks to the tags that Zimbra supports, but more on that later). Next up are the billing/partner/introduction emails, which I should process this afternoon. And lastly, if you’re not a client and have requested a briefing or some of our time otherwise, I’ll probably get to you tomorrow. Otherwise, I’m back on IM so grab me there if there’s something urgent.

  1. That’s a very pretty fish with perfect proportions. Sorry you too are calling an end to vacation. My fishing highlights were four bonito, a dozen big fluke, and snapper bluefish on a 4 weight trout rod with a Mickey Finn. It only gets better from here though — at least so far as Cape Cod is concerned.

    Where’s your office btw?

  2. pretty fish, but i promise one of the smaller ones that i caught 😉 though i landed nothing close to what your brother grabbed.

but a blue on a 4 weight? that must have been quite a fight. some of the folks up here have caught blues and even on 8’s and 9’s they’re a battle.

unfortunately fishing here is winding down. it’s best right at the end of june / beginning of july. i’m still doing ok, but nothing like the feeding frenzy i got then.

summer office is right down the road in brunswick, where bowdoin is.

  3. They were “snapper” blues — babies no more than eight inches long. But tons of fun.

Brunswick — I know it well. Family up in Damariscotta.

  4. even at 8 inches, that’s a mean fish. do you eat them? i personally don’t care for bluefish, but my family from the Cape used to make into all kinds of things like bluefish pate.

that’s funny about damariscotta, as my family almost bought there instead of georgetown. great town.

  5. Next time you’re in Portland, gimme a ring.
