I’m Sorry, Boston

Share via Twitter Share via Facebook Share via Linkedin Share via Reddit

I would hereby like to sincerely apologize to the fine city of Boston, all its citizens, and the various services and businesses affected by the inclement weather I’ve personally (but unwittingly) brought down on you. The weather here in the Northeast has generally been passable for the past few weeks (and sporadically glorious, to quote Frank the Tank), apart from some heavy rain which will unfortunately force the Sox into a number of double headers later this summer. But today? The first day I’m scheduled to travel out of the East Coast? Heavy rains, serious thunder and lightning (right out the window, in fact), a terrible fatal tunnel collapse, quarter sized hail, and – yes – a tornado watch. Who’s heard of a tornado watch in Massachusetts? You can’t make this stuff up.

According to a gentleman talking (with excessive volume) on the phone next to me, our plane has apparently been diverted back up to where I was this morning – and where the weather has presumably recovered following my departure – Maine. The plan is for it to refuel and return down here. Either way, it’ll be a miracle if I make it out of here tonight, but I really hope I do.

I take full responsibility for this unfortunate incident, and hope that you all – in time – will come to forgive me.

Update: 5:06 PM (original departure time was 4:40 PM) – our plane apparently has apparently left the gate in Portland, but “not taken off yet.” As soon as they have “more information”
