If you are a Formula 1™ racing fan, you know that the 2024 US Grand Prix™ kicks off this weekend in Austin, Texas. What you might now know is that my fellow RedMonk analysts and I had the chance to attend this very event in 2023. AWS (which has an existing partnership with Formula 1™) hosted Kate Holterhoff, Rachel Stephens, and myself at the Circuit of the Americas last year so that we could report on AWS technology in action.

With three days of events including qualifiers, a sprint race, and the main race itself, there was a lot to take in. And because the AWS folks are such excellent hosts, we had access to spaces that most fans don’t get to see, including the onsite technical center (responsible for sending the media feed and data out for broadcast and also for sharing data with the racing teams), the pit wall (where we got to see some very fancy data and dashboards), and even one of the team garages. As you might imagine, there was a lot of data involved, some nifty tech, and some very fast cars. Oh, and a lot of talk about tires. And ICYMI, we recorded our reaction to these events for posterity.
