It’s all about email, baby.

Where Oren Teich now works: “Replicate Technologies Inc. (RT) is a provider of configuration, connectivity and security management technologies. RT’s offerings are designed to optimize corporate IT’s use of server virtualization.”

HP to stop doing stuff for identity management.

I’m always curious about appliances vs. software. What’s the feel in Identity land for appliances?
-
More on the Encentuate acquisition, with round-up of what others are saying.

“In other words, Passlogix shot themselves in the foot by hedging their bets with both IBM and Oracle. Sooner or later, one of these 2 giants of the software industry was going to toss Passlogix out the door like a rag doll.”

Seems like a full, but brief, round up of Sun’s identity stack.

The problem of identity federation/integration vs. centralization. Vendors have little motivation to standardize.

Getting in Hyperic’s territory.

“Within a market, an attack on the systempunkt destabilizes the psychology of the market to induce severe inefficiencies and uncertainties. The ultimate objective of this activity, in aggregate, is the collapse of the target state and globalization.”

It’s still shocking that we have to go through all this trouble to find a good programmer.

“Revenues more than doubled between 2005 and 2007 growing from $27.9 million to $61.7 million annually…profit was $13M in 2007.”

Whao, American Airlines may seriously loose me a fanatic customer come May 1st. JetBlue flies to SFO, JFK, BOS, and MCO, which pretty much covers my frequent travel. Status be damned if I can get good, 1-way flights 60-70% of where I care about.

Has anyone dumped QuickSilver of Spotlight? Sure, Spotlight does less, but maybe you don’t actually need all that QS magic…?

“He pointed out that if less than 1 percent of the entire area population chose to live downtown, they would fill up all of the existing units as well as those being planned downtown.” My question is always: where do these people buy their groceries?

Great if you don’t have do international travel.

Phurnace’s core IP rests in sucking out (app) server configurations and understanding what those configurations mean. I see compliance and GRC stories in their future. Also, would be good for virtualization and many other IT management tasks, esp. CMDB.

Looks like an open source (ASL) automation framework.

"My question is always: where do these people [downtown residents] buy their groceries?"
Royal Blue is a small grocery store at 3rd & Lavaca, at the bottom of the AMLI Downtown. I either go there or get on the bus to go to HEB at S. Congress & Oltorf. If I'm in the mood to spend a lot of money, I go to Whole Foods at 6th & Lamar.
The denser downtown becomes, the more grocery stores will move in to satisfy the demand. Density has its benefits.
I decided to try going with just Spotlight when I upgraded to Leopard. QS may not have been available, don't remember. I never used the QS bells and whistles, and haven't really specialized SL either. And it's working fine for me.
I'm trying out just Spotlight. Occasionally I use whiz-bang in QuickSilver, but less so now that I don't create to do items in iCal.
