- Intel to buy security co. McAfee in $7.68B deal
This is pretty dramatic. Intel isn't known as an ISV – it's weird to compete with, for example, Symantec. Of course, McAfee is a mature company that can run itself, so it's not like the lack of software knowledge for Intel is a risk, as long as Intel learns from McAfee. Of course, I could be missing a big, pre-existing software product line (Jon Collins says Intel used to sell management tools).
