first Kathy and now Ted describe the benefits of nice office furniture; to each their own, but i’m quite happy with my $65 Staples Aeron clone – if i’ve got a couple of hundred dollars to spend, i’d rather get better hardware

better hardware? what do you *need* man? you are running topline AMD gear, and a slinky x60 thinkpad for when you’re on the road.

topline AMD gear? you mean our server?
basically my argument is simple. i just watched a mastercard commercial that talked about office supplies. the ergonomic office chair was $650, and the laptops were $999. being quite happy with my $65 dollar chair, budgetwise i’d much rather get a 1600 laptop and spend 60 on the chair.
i’m in the distinct minority, though, i suspect.
