As more users of Josh Schachter’s del.icio.us service begin using it as I do, as a quasi-link blog, there were bound to be questions about copyright, cross-posting, etc. To preempt such issues, del.icio.us now offers the ability to license the associated metadata/content under Creative Commons terms. Great stuff from del.icio.us (and I’m happy to see that Josh and team are continuing to innovate and provide new services), and congrats to the Commons for attracting another partner.
And speaking of licenses, I need to call attention to a licensing change for this space. I’ve relicensed the content here under non-commercial terms to forestall some of the issues people are having with their feeds being appropriated under terms they are not comfortable with. I had originally licensed it under commercial terms so as to allow the media to quote freely from the space as they see fit, and this change is not being made to prevent that. Members of the media should feel comfortable pulling quotes to support their stories, although I would frown on wholesale repurposing of entire articles (not that any of the media folks would consider that anyhow).
