del.icio.us + Comments = What, Exactly?

Joho (Weinberger) points to this entry which describes the flyweight relationship between del.icio.us and blog comments. This is interesting to me for several reasons:

  1. I often post quick comments to my del.icio.us rather than the original site, because I need to capture them for later
  2. Those comments can then be tied via tags to other users
  3. One of the biggest complaints people have about comments is that they don’t remember to check back and see any replies (we use MT-Notify for this) – decoupling them from the blog in question, while allowing them to reintegrated via RSS or some such, is an idea that at least merits consideration

And on a mostly unrelated tangent, this reminds me of something else that I’d like to see from del.icio.us (as if Josh doesn’t have enough on his hands already :): a bookmarking relationship finder similar to the one provided by Audioscrobbler. This link, for example, identifies the other Audioscrobbler users with the listening tastes most similar to mine. I’d love to have a similar matching algorithm in del.icio.us, so that I could see users with similar reading/linking habits.
