Ok, it’s a terrible replacement, and one likely to be disabled by Google within days if not hours. But from Slashdot comes word of the latest Gmail hack – a Python application that turns your Gmail account into a mountable Linux filesystem.
This is one I will not be trying out (hear that, Google?), but it’s offered up here 1.) for your amusement, and 2.) as more proof of the remarkable creativity of some of the developers out there.
While I don’t support this particular hack as I think it goes too far in bending the rules (and is DEFINITELY a violation of the T&C), it is an interesting idea. I’d love to see an English equivalent of GMX that offers WebDAV access to a gig of storage, either from Google or someone else.
