Let’s be honest: it’s been a fairly punishing winter for just about all of us. Denver’s been buried since Christmas (got more today), the East Coast has been frigid and denied even the recompense of decent snow, and let’s not even bring up the fact that the Michigan’s and Minnesota’s of the world recently had to close schools because it was 40 degrees below zero. 40. Hell, San Francisco was fairly miserable my last trip out, and my Austin friends tell me that they’ve seen multiple forms of frozen precipitation this winter.
Even should you somehow miss the apocalyptic overtones of all of this, even if you’re still skeptical that the end is near, you have to admit that you’re looking forward to spring. I know I am.
Which is why tonight’s such a big night for me. The day I’ve long awaited has finally arrived. And I’m sure to be greeting it in style, thanks to my friends from DirecTV and NESN (who are my friends only because they’re not blacking this one out).
