Just got done with sessions, dinner, and the inevitable cocktails on the first day of the IBM Analyst event here in Westchester. Lots of good discussions and some solid feedback on concepts of ours like COA and the changing notion of services, though a few too many buzzwords flying around. There’s only so many times you can hear ESB, SOA, BPM, CBM (this one, we’re fighting, incidentally), etc and take them seriously.
On the 6 hour drive down here (thanks to sheets of rain and wind that was blowing the rental car all over the place – my SHO’s in the shop, remember), I got a chance to catch up on the latest Gillmor Gang. Lots of good content in this one, as the guest this week – Sun COO Jonathan Schwartz – expounds on subjects as varied as blogs and podcasting (he attaches considerable importance to each) to Microsoft’s innovation capability (which he defends, curiously enough). That’s all good, but what makes this the best Gillmor Gang ever is the kind words Steve Gillmor has for my entry that discusses his entry about 53 minutes in. Appreciate the nod, Steve, and glad you found it somewhat relevant. I’d missed this reference, and wish there was a way that podcasts could track back on such mentions, but can’t see how that would work. Anyhow, the gang – as always – is definitely worth a listen.
I’d have more for you, but apparently I’ve been signed up for a 7 AM breakfast so it’s off to bed for me. Seriously, 7 AM. I feel like a dairy farmer here 😉
