And now is the time on tecosystems when we watch Red Sox playoff games. After sweating the schedule, enduring nightmares of being trapped on a JetBlue plane on the JFK tarmac with no access to the game (they don’t carry TBS), I made the executive decision to not take the chance and simply stay over in Chicago tonight.

True, it’s not Boston, but it’s got several things going for it:

  1. A good friend of mine from college – also a big Sox fan – is now a Chicago resident, and I’ll be heading over to meet him and possibly a couple of other friends shortly.
  2. Our venue of choice should be as able as anywhere to replicate the raucous, playoff environment. Tripoli Tavern, like various other establishments across the country (including the Connecticut Yankee in San Francisco), is apparently well known as a Sox bar.
  3. Cubs fans are natural allies for the Sox. From the people in the packaging department to the doormen, everyone here at the Hyatt has been wishing me luck. The potential of a a Sox/Cubs series should put a smile on anyone’s face.

Should be entertaining. If you’re in the Chicago area, stop by the Tripoli Tavern and say hi. As long as you’re not a Yankees fan.

If I’m unusually downcast or upbeat tomorrow, you’ll know why. I humbly request some slack either way.
