Pulling the Ripcord on San Francisco

Cancelling the flight and hotel for tomorrow night was easy. Lunch with Dave, dinner with Preston, and a RedMonk evening with the Joyeurs and other friends at the new 83 Proof: considerably harder.

But when I learned earlier this evening that my last remaining client gig in San Francisco had been moved from Thursday to mid December and from San Francisco to Denver, well, I confess to being rather less than despondent about the news. It’s been a long couple of months travel-wise, you see, and when it comes to breaks in the itinerary, one learns fairly quickly to be opportunistic. Sort of like I am with respect to meals.

Much as I enjoy the fine city of San Francisco and the people with which I’d been scheduled to pass the time, then, another night in my own bed is not exactly cause for complaint. My apologies, however, to the folks I cancelled on and rest assured that I’ll be out within the next few weeks to make amends. With beer.

If it’s any consolation, tomorrow’s agenda includes such exciting tasks as the rewiring of my entire office electronics setup, the payment of my Ohio speeding ticket and a trip to Fedex. Never a dull moment, and so forth.
