Convicted of Killing My Travel Schedule: The Month of May

Ah, April. I miss you already. I don’t miss your massive tax bills, your puncture wounds of the foot, or your nor’easters (well, those I sort of do miss). But I miss your lazy days of fishing, your five for six record against the Evil Empire, your fun conferences. Mostly, however, I miss your limited travel: I count only three (work) trips for the month. Those were the days.

But since April isn’t here anymore, Mrs Torrance, I’d better get used to the idea of a May in which I’ll likely spend more time moving at several hundred miles an hour than I will in Denver. Particularly because it’s looking like I’ll only be here another two weeks or thereabouts thanks to a Memorial Day that bludgeoned me with its suddenness.

In any event, tomorrow morning will see me embark on a trip that will see me effectively gone for a week plus. The itinerary, in case you need to get ahold of me:

Wednesday – Friday

Late tomorrow morning I’ll be catching a flight on my favorite airline and yours, United (I had to book through a service), out to Boston for VMWare’s Analyst Day on Thursday. Strangely, one of my colleagues will be there; that’s right, two monks in one place, at one time. The apocalypse is upon us.

While the original plan called for me to fly back to Denver late Thursday night, it also called for me to hop a flight approximately 8 hours later out of Denver to New Orleans. That’s just not going to work, particularly because I’m headed down there to help my brother and his friends celebrate his upcoming nuptials.

So the new plan is instead to stay over in Boston Thursday night, and fly out Friday morning to New Orleans.

Sunday – Thursday

Presuming that I survive the weekend’s festivities, Sunday evening will see me catching a flight out of New Orleans to – of all places – Denver, where I’ll hop yet another flight over to San Francisco. If I’m a bit ragged at CommunityOne on Monday morning, feel free to cut me a bit of slack. I guarantee you I’ll be running on fumes by that point.

Which is unfortunate, because I’ll be there for four full days, jetting back to Denver sometime Thursday afternoon. Our schedules at JavaOne are always a mess, but all three of the monks will be present and open for chats, refreshing beverages, or some combination thereof.

The Week of the 14th

While this is not yet cast in stone, it’s possible that I’ll be flying Az out to Maine sometime this week in preparation for my summer sojourn in Sagadahoc County. My drive out would follow shortly thereafter, meaning that my time here in D-town grows short indeed. It was in anticipation of this, in fact, that I got my joint 15,000 mile/pre-cross-country-trip servicing out of the way this morning.

But more on that as I confirm details.
