Surprise: It’s a Non-Links Post

In between Shiner Bocks and migas1, I actually have gotten some work done. I swear. Very little blogging, however, as you may have noticed. I’ve got two posts half written up, one on the implications of Daniel Kilcullen’s counter-insurgency recommendations and the software industry, but I’m finding it tough to find the time to finish them. Maybe tomorrow.

In the meantime, a big thank you to our customer: work was even more fun than usual this week. Part of that credit, however, should go to Fado’s (who knew there was one in Austin?), Guerro’s, Moonshine, Saxon’s, The Continental, The South Congress Cafe, and the assorted other venues hit on this trip. Oh, and lest I forget, Barfield the Funky Tyrant, Tuesday’s live act which was – if nothing else – highly entertaining (try Funky Cupcake). So A-Town, stay weird. I’ll be back soon.

But for now, I’m happy to be back in D-Town. There’s a chance I’ll be off to Beantown next week, but no confirmation on that yet. Need to crank through some more email, mail a couple of checks and then – hopefully – grab some dinner.

P.S. If anyone knows what I should do about the message below, I’d be more than somewhat interested:

Dec 14 08:34:22 bishop kernel: [17179745.492000] Uhhuh. NMI received. Dazed and confused, but trying to continue
Dec 14 08:34:22 bishop kernel: [17179745.492000] You probably have a hardware problem with your RAM chips

  1. If I was put on this earth for a reason, it might very well be to consume migas. I could eat it every day and not get sick of it, but it’s hard to find outside of Texas. [back]
