Just a quick note to let you all know that sometime later this afternoon, presuming I can get my American Express travel profile successfully approved (more on that in a bit) so that I can rent a car, I’ll be travelling down to Somers, NY to meet with some of the IBMers on a topic that should prove quite interesting. If I’m able to say more later, I will, but meantime I’ll be out of pocket later this afternoon through tomorrow.
Why am I not flying to NY, you ask? Well, I’m no huge fan of air travel anyhow, and with rain pretty much an every day part of the forecast these days a car seems a much better option. As always, if you need me while travelling please use my cell (617.320.9757).
Back to the American Express traveller’s profile bit. Note to IBM: despite all of the good and well intentioned work you folks have done around ODF and the implementations of that standard, you cannot successfully save (though you can open and edit it) the American Express traveller’s profile you require us to fill out in the OpenOffice.org client. It crashes 100% of the time, in my testing admittedly brief testing. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but I don’t have a copy of Office handy and thus was forced to outsource the completion of the form. Most inconvenient.
