One other little bugfix to note: some of you may have received while commenting on either James’ or my entries an error that read “You must define a Comment Pending template.” As near as I can determine, it’s a result of the fact that James and my blogs were created in a Movable Type version – 2.661 – that did not include such templates (or were lost during an upgrade). Cote’s blog, created more recently, has had no such problem.
What this meant was not that your comment was lost – those were in fact captured successfully. It simply meant that according to the various rules we have set up, the post was selected for moderation, but it had nothing to display as there was no template for that event. The fix seemed obvious: just do as the error message directs, and create Comment Pending templates.
Unfortunately, however, there does not seem to be a way in Movable Type 3.2 to define what are known as System Templates. There’s simply no button, no link to allow for the creating of a Comment Pending template. Fortunately, however, someone else in the MT community has this exact same problem and released a plugin to fix it. I simply uploaded that, using pscp.exe from here to turn that trick (Windows doesn’t come with some of the tools I’m used to working with on Gentoo).
Hopefully that addresses the error for those that run afoul of our moderation system, and feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions/problems.
