This is just a quick note for anyone that’s looking to upgrade their 1.3 instance of Mediawiki to the current 1.6. While the documentation doesn’t tell you this, the 1.6.6 instance will in fact quickly and painlessly update your 1.3.x database during install. Just point your new Mediawiki instance at your existing database, and it will take care of everything from there – adding tables and so forth as required. On an unrelated note, why is the latest version of Mediawiki in the Ubuntu libraries 1.4.x? Gentoo’s got 1.6.6 in their masked repository. I’ll be interested to see how some of the other packages compare on a version to version basis.
On a different note, I’ve received the required information from Johncompanies and will be heading over to the UPS Store this afternoon to ship the V20z. I’m literally counting the days until we’re out from under the thumb of 1and1; I’ve never experienced such horrendous service in my life.
