According to this article, American businesses lose up to $780 million dollars of lost productivity do to the “Big Game,” but RedMonk’s getting its money’s worth out of me today. Part of that is because my sporting-induced work decline typically comes in October rather than January, but most of it was because I simply didn’t care all that much. I was unable to attend a viewing at Alex‘s because I’d previously accepted an invitation to watch it with another friend, his wife and their one month old. Not only was the game pretty much an afterthought, we frankly watched almost as much of Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl as we did football.
The big disappointment? That The King did not make a follow up appearance on what is one of my all time favorite ads – his stumbling bootleg into the endzone. I’m sure Donnie knows which ad I’m talking about. At least he didn’t from what I could tell from the ads after the fact.
Anyhow, while the game wasn’t that important to me personally, let me congratulate the Steelers fans in the audience, because winning is sweet. For the Seahawks fans in the audience, I feel your pain.
Either way, football is now behind us – the next important sporting event? Packing day, where the Boston papers cover the loading of the Sox equipment bus for the trip down to Spring Training. Yes, all Sox fans are crazy.
