As some of the folks from Feedlounge, Ogilvy and Virtuas know, I’ve been talking about doing a Denver area general technical meetup sometime in the next few weeks as a compliment to the existing but specialized meetups for the Java, Linux, .NET, etc crowds. In keeping with my planning abilities, it wouldn’t be anything really sophisticated, merely a chance to get some of different elements of the unexpectedly diverse Denver technical crowd together, ply them with alcohol, and see what happens. I’ve got to track down some of the other Denver technical folks I haven’t met with yet, but hopefully we can get rolling on that soon.
In the meantime, however, I couldn’t let this one go as a friend just forwarded this over. I’ve seen some great live music since I’ve been here – including the Detroit Cobras and the Heartless Bastards – but for comedy value, I imagine it would be hard to top the Dan Band. If you don’t know who the Dan Band is, queue up Old School and skip to the wedding scene early in the movie – the one where Will Ferrell’s dancing with his new bride and listening to a very…um…unique rendition of Total Eclipse of the Heart. Not sure I’ll be attending yet, but hope to.
Otherwise, I’m looking forward to the first Denver meetup.
