Finally got a chance to check out www.audioscrobbler.com, which essentially is a service that sits in your media player of choice via a plugin and phones home to Audioscrobbler what you’ve been listening to (just need to not let iTunes run through that hair band playlist I have ;). I’ve been looking for something like this for a while, and it looks as if I can retire the “Now Playing” entries for good.
To see what I’ve been listening to recently, hop over here – I’ll have a link to it in the main template shortly.
Even more interesting is the fact that they make some of the content from the profile page – last ten songs listened to – available via an RSS feed. I tried to get a couple of Audioscrobbler RSS ==> HTML hacks working, but no joy thus far. I’m experiencing a variety of PHP, Magpie RSS, and related errors. If anyone has had success with this, please let me know – would love to get it working.
Either way, I’m loving the veritable explosion of REST-style consumer oriented nework applications. Keep it up guys – great stuff.
