The rising cost of living in California generally and Silicon Valley specifically is no secret, but the technology industry has been insulated from these market forces by virtue of its salaries. According to many anecdotal and media accounts, however, costs are now high enough that tech workers who would be counted amongst the financial elite almost anywhere else in the country and now being priced out. The question for many tech workers is: what next? What happens when you leave the Valley? To explore the issue, we talked to one tech worker who’d done just that, Sara Dornsife.
