http://www.salon.com/tech/col/smith/2007/06/01/askthepilot234/index.html blames flying delays on smaller, more frequent services.
I’ve only had two delays on Frontier (DIA to DCA/SLC) in my last 50 or so flights, but United and USAir from pretty much anywhere are at about a 40% on time departure rate. And I’m not sure I’ve ever had a flight leave on time from IAD.
