Ben says now’s the time to get involved in OpenSolaris governance

even given Matt’s obvious affection for Red hat, i think this is overstating the case; i don’t think the issue here is closed binaries, nor do i think that’s the sole reason ISVs write to SuSE & Red Hat
-
It is still, however, an open question as to how much value any organization can bring to the market, given that the market is already voting for a vendor-sponsored standard, otherwise known as “Red Hat.” – would debate this notion as well
-
this is interesting, considering the fact that i’ve actually begun using a couple of desktop Java applications again

wow – i missed this; Irving’s been instrumental to IBM’s transition into internet and network enabled businesses – big loss, particularly coming after the departure of Ferguson
-
more detailed information on the OpenMoko – which i’ll probably be purchasing

Timing, market key to Maine’s fund of funds – Mass High Tech: The Journal of New England Technology:“MESDA, Maine’s software and information technology industry association, is putting the finishing touches on a bill that would create a $100 million “fund of funds” to provide venture capital to Maine’s burgeoning tech economy.” awesome

seems like important lessons have been learned here – great to see a mention of Lala.com, BTW, as they back my favorite radio station WOXY.com
