Boston Skyline

Originally uploaded by sogrady.

In honor of my return to my pseudo-hometown. A return, coincidentally, that was made possible only with a well timed exit: Denver got even more snow today. The folks back home that I’ve spoken with are decidedly unhappy about the situation, but the storm was too slow out of the gate and didn’t manage to trap me there. Can’t wait to get home, so that I can dig my car out of the economy lot with a tiny plastic scraper. Good times.

The rumor currently going around is that my poor travel luck is branching out and seeking new opportunities, particularly in the local weather areas. My old colleague Gordon Haff wrote in to suggest that the City of Boston schedule additional plowing capacity for my upcoming trip to Mashup Camp. Might not be a bad idea.

I’m making a list of places in Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville for coworkers to check out while in town for Mashup Camp; it lives here if you’re interested:

Given that I can’t post to Edward’s list, a few recommendations for Mashup Camp restaurants around Central Square. It’s a great area for ethnic restaurants:

The Royal East is probably best Chinese with Mary Chung’s (closed Tuesday) close behind. Rangzen (on Peal St.) has good Tibetan. Asmara (on Mass Ave) has Ethiopian (i.e. large piece of spongy bread with which you eat various curry-ish dishes with your hands).
