USB Device Charger?

So I just ran the battery on my LG CU320 pretty much dry, only to discover that I forgot to bring my charger with me. While all should be well, provided I can get through a morning with no cell phone as my car has a car charger in it, I’d really like to avoid this in future. The simplest method, in my experience, is the USB to phone charge adapter. The odds that I’ll forget my laptop power source are much lower than my cell charger.

Anybody have any recommendations? Ideally, the unit would be capable of charging things besides phones – cameras, Nokia 770s, etc.

Stephen: The only system I’ve found with a form factor I like is APC’s MPP UPB10. I need something like this for my concert bootlegging rig: it sucks to have 4GB of CF to record to [over 6hrs] and only battery life for half of that! :(

Hope this helps. I’m curious to see what other folks have …

This is one of the things I love about the BlackBerry and my Motorola BT headset – both charge on standard mini-USB.

Stephen: I have a universal battery extended with USB port that I got from Semsons. It’s inexpensive ($15), well built, and works from 4 AA batteries. See http://www.semsons.com/batexwitusb.html. I’ve used it with my iPod and phone.

A newer, tempting gizmo is their “Pocket Power Bank” which is both a battery charger and a battery extender with USB. It is only a bit more expensive ($22). More info is at http://www.semsons.com/pocpowban.html. Might have to get myself one of these too…

Geof/David: i may fall back to those units, but i’m hopeful that i won’t have to buy another battery. i’m looking for something rather that’s just a patch cord from USB to the device. i got one as a conference gift a while ago, but i only have the motorola tip for it.
