In this RedMonk Conversation James Governor talks to IBM’s Bill Higgins about how IBM has driven culture change in its software delivery organisation by adopting the most modern tools, platforms and approaches like Inner Source. IBM is often the testing ground for human scale at the industry’s most storied development platforms – such as GitHub and Slack. Transformation involves changes of the entire social technical system, and Higgins has been driving this change at IBM for nearly a decade. Now he’s applying what’s he learned to new delivery approaches for the companies AI and machine learning platforms, with Watson Libraries. It’s an interesting conversation about process and platform change at scale. Any traditional development shop can learn a lot from Bill Higgins, and he’s approaches change in such a big enterprise organisation.
