THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DENVER HAS ISSUED A BLIZZARD WARNING…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM WEDNESDAY TO 5 PM MST THURSDAY. THE WINTER STORM WARNING HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS WILL BECOME WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. THIS WILL CONTINUE INTO THURSDAY WITH TOTAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 10 TO 20 INCHES. NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON INTO THURSDAY CAUSING
BLIZZARD CONDITIONS.

A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE OCCURRING OR IMMINENT. SUSTAINED WIND AND/OR FREQUENT WIND GUSTS OF 35 MPH OR HIGHER WILL COMBINE WITH CONSIDERABLE FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW TO PRODUCE WIDESPREAD VISIBILITIES BELOW ONE QUARTER
OF A MILE. TRAVEL WILL BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IS DISCOURAGED

IN THESE WHITE OUT CONDITIONS. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL…HAVE A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT WITH YOU. IF YOU GET STRANDED…STAY WITH YOUR VEHICLE AND WAIT FOR HELP TO ARRIVE.

You know it’s not good when they cancel a Winter Storm warning because it’s not severe enough. And for those of you scoring at home, I’m currently scheduled to arrive in Denver at midnight tomorrow. Yeah, as in right in the middle of the storm. I’m sorry: blizzard.

Guess I’d better get used to the Hotel Marlowe. If anybody has any spare shirts they can bring buy here, that’d be sweet. The holiday travel season is not starting out well.

  1. This is Nature’s way of paying you back for tagging Alex with that 5 Things meme. 😉

But seriously, I hope you can travel home in good time. Be safe!

  2. i knew i shouldn’t have spread the virus 😉

on the other front, if i’m going to be stranded somewhere, it might as well be boston.

  3. Look, you live at 5200 feet, next to one of the largest mountain ranges in North America.

I lived near Calgary, AB, Canada’s equivalent to Denver. I am proud to say that Calgary has seen snow in every month of the year since I was born.

Winter storm warning comes with the turf.

You could still be in Maine. Mmmmm…a Nor’Easter.

  4. From the looks of it, you’ll be spending the weekend in Boston. They’ve cancelled most flights, and since airlines have oversold for Christmas flights, there’s little chance that you can get on another flight until next week. I’m glad we’re not traveling this year!
