If you’re in Windows and your Device Manager (right click My Computer, select Manage, and click on Device Manager) reports your modem to be a Lucent Softmodem AMR (or lspci reports it in Linux as Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM AC’97 Modem Controller), and you cruised over [here](http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/Ltmodem.html) or [here](http://www.heby.de/ltmodem) looking for Linux drivers only to find that they don’t support the AMR modems, fear not. I have the answer, and it’s [here](http://www.smlink.com/main/index1.php?ln=en&main_id=40). I don’t know how or why it works, I just know that it does. And now the last remaining hardware driver hole on my Linux laptop is gone.
