Thanks to Tamir Kason for the <a href=\"http:\/\/khason.biz\/blog\/2004\/12\/why-microsoft-can-blow-off-with-c.html\">idea<\/a> that to make a technology stick you need a beard. He has lots of great examples and doesn&#8217;t even call out <a href=\"http:\/\/inventors.about.com\/gi\/dynamic\/offsite.htm?site=http:\/\/java.sun.com\/people\/jag\/\">James Gosling<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>This piece was interesting given something i was wondering yesterday. I was reading an article with a bunch of  IT managers complaining about their lack of influence in the organization. They all had beards. Lose the beards guys&#8211;if you want to be taken seriously by business people you probably have shave. <a href=\"http:\/\/images.google.com\/images?q=richard+branson&amp;hl=en&amp;btnG=Google+Search\">Richard Branson<\/a> seems like the exception but how many CxOs do you know with lambchops?<\/p>\n<p>Seems like you need facial hair if you want your language widely adopted but not if you want to be a CIO&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Never mind the skills, look to the facial hair.
