{"id":38,"date":"2004-09-20T19:06:56","date_gmt":"2004-09-21T02:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.redmonk.com\/jgovernor\/wp\/?p=38"},"modified":"2004-09-20T19:06:56","modified_gmt":"2004-09-21T02:06:56","slug":"best-privacy-policy-ever-flickr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redmonk.com\/jgovernor\/best-privacy-policy-ever-flickr\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Privacy Policy Ever- Flickr"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am not really a visual guy. i am all about the word. i do like photography but something about too much visual data in web content leaves me cold. i have had to unsubscribe from some blogs, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nat.org\/2004\/september\/\">Nat Friedman<\/a>&#8216;s, accordingly. <\/p>\n<p>But i decided i needed to start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/\">Flickr<\/a>-ing, mostly because<br \/>\na. its hot within blog <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ai.mit.edu\/people\/jcma\/papers\/1986-ai-memo-871\/memo.html\">hermeneutics<\/a><br \/>\nb. its part of the new <a href=\"http:\/\/atomenabled.org\/\">ATOM<\/a>ic world of content feeds and splicing<br \/>\nc. i am a big believer in the <a href=\"http:\/\/creativecommons.org\/\">Creative Commons<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Whatever my reason i decided it was time to go through the dreaded registration process, where i get reamed for a bunch of data i don&#8217;t need to provide for the service, and to which the harvester offers no guarantees whatsoever.<\/p>\n<p>How wrong i was &#8211; a good policy should be short and to the point, without a bunch of loopholes or opt-outs (by the vendor, that is). Which is where Flickr comes in:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our hatred for spam is difficult to articulate. We promise unreservedly never to share your email address with anyone without your explicit permission&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Awesome.
