Good examples: <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/CarnivalCruise\">Carnival Cruise Lines<\/a>. The ScienceNewsBlog\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/weather\">weather tracking updates<\/a>. Andy Carvin\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/pbslearningnow\">PBS blog<\/a> on education and technology.  <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Retailers announcing sales and deals. Good example: Deals on <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/DellOutlet\">Dells<\/a>. Blue-light specials at <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/amazondeals\">Amazon<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Increasing the ability for frequent updates to blogs or web sites or news. Examples: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/nytimes\">The NY Times<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/cnnbrk\">CNN<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/bbc\">BBC<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/adrants\">Adrants<\/a>, and those of us here at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/marketingprofs\">MarketingProfs<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Building consensus or a community of supporters. Good examples: Presidential candidates <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/johnedwards\">John Edwards<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/BarackObama\">Barack Obama<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Building buzz. Example: Scott Monty and CC Chapman introduce a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nothingcouldbefinerdiner.com\/\">new blog<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Updating breaking news at conferences or events. Example: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.web-strategist.com\/blog\/2007\/04\/14\/podtechs-scoble-and-jeremiah-to-test-ustream-technology-at-web-20-expo\/\">Jeremiah<\/a> at the Web 2.0 Expo. <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/forrester\">Forrester <\/a>seems poised to use it to update happenings at its upcoming Consumer Forum.  <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Updating your network to shape your own personal branding: Example: Oh boy&#8230; there are zillions. Pick a face on Twitter. And so on.  <\/p>\n<p>If we have a question we need to ask smart people about we twitter it (an article of faith at RedMonk is the community is far smarter than we are.) I am not defensive about using Twitter, though Ann. I am comfortable with it.
