Interesting to see Liberty fillng out its vertical story, starting to nail federated identity as a critical network service, potentially enabling [compliance and privacy](http://xml.coverpages.org/LibertyONCHIT.html) when data is distributed across a national healthcare network.

I like the fact Liberty isnt responding to this RFI technically, but rather is focusing on patient data protection – for my money a more important issue than “frictionless” commerce or whatever other benefits are touted (although improved data quality is a life critical issue obviously). Patient privacy must be front and center in any major healthcare network- which is one reason the half-baked approach of the [UK National Health Service](http://www.computerweekly.com/Article135063.htm) is quite worrying.
