I like the ZDNet [Between the Lines ](http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/) blog. Dan and David do a great job.

But David is really on a hot streak at the moment.

He is [taking strong positions ](http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=1952).

He is [reporting dispassionately ](http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=2140).

He is, more importantly_, [revisiting](http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=2144)_ these positions.

He is [taking the fight to DRM ](http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=1926).

He is [providing deep context ](http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=2120).

He is [helping to create the future, by analysing the past ](http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=2141) and present. I agree Dan Bricklin’s WikiCalc could be huge (an idea whose time has come)

David is showing what journalism needs to be, if the news media is to avoid a pink slip future. Are there some contributions inherent in the list above? Sure – that is what makes David essential reading.
