[Port 25 : This Old Box](http://port25.technet.com/archive/2006/09/25/This-Old-Box.aspx "This Old Box")

Bill Hilf is an important voice at Microsoft, being general manager of platform strategy. Its kind of funny that a guy whose job is to advance one platform uber alles keeps a PC graveyard in his office.

Can you imagine if Microsoft had to support all these different architectures? No? Neither could Bill or Jim Allchin.

I do love the old PCs – that was my era. The TRS-80 was a wonderful machine.

Port 25 is one of the best things to come out of Microsoft in a long time. Ignore Get The Facts. Port 25 is a must read though if you want to understand the future of interoperability and open source on the Windows platforms.
