{"id":2872,"date":"2009-07-02T10:50:51","date_gmt":"2009-07-02T15:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.redmonk.com\/cote\/2009\/07\/02\/briefnotes\/"},"modified":"2009-07-02T10:50:51","modified_gmt":"2009-07-02T15:50:51","slug":"briefnotes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redmonk.com\/cote\/2009\/07\/02\/briefnotes\/","title":{"rendered":"Brief Notes &#8211; The Week in Briefings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I get a lot of &#8220;briefings&#8221; during the week: phone conversations with vendors (commercial and otherwise) going over their products, services, and &#8220;offerings.&#8221; These typically last an hour and can be anything from extreme &#8220;marketing&#8221; to low-level technical talks.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I asked the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rizzotees.com\/props-to-my-tweeps.html\">&#8220;my tweeps&#8221;<\/a> if they&#8217;d like to see notes on all those briefings. There wasn&#8217;t a &#8220;no&#8221; answer, but some people said they&#8217;d prefer to see just the good ones. I loath making content-producing promises &#8211; because I always break them &#8211; but so far I have three &#8220;brief notes&#8221; for those interested:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.redmonk.com\/cote\/2009\/07\/02\/mindtouch-aims-take-over-your-intranet-brief-notes\/\">MindTouch Aims Take Over Your Intranet<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.redmonk.com\/cote\/2009\/07\/02\/apache-pivot-brief-notes\/\">Apache Pivot<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.redmonk.com\/cote\/2009\/07\/02\/longjump-paas-in-a-box-brief-notes\/\">LongJump, Pass in a Box<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While I don&#8217;t plan on writing up every single briefing I get &#8211; some are confidential, others just boring, and then everything in-between &#8211; it is (professionally) nice to do so. I&#8217;ll see if I can set aside some time each week, as I did this week, to write them up.
