[<a href=\"http:\/\/playfoursquare.com\/\">foursquare<\/a> is] shooting to have much more of a <strong>40% social, 60% discovery split<\/strong>.\n  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/hbdm.harvardbusiness.org\/email\/archive\/dailystat.php?date=042309\">In the Office<\/a><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\n    But while occasional telecommuting has increased, the percentage of t<strong>elecommuters who do so regularly has declined. 5% fewer<\/strong> telecommuters worked from home at least once a week in 2008 than in 2006. During the same period, the percentage of <strong>telecommuters who worked from home almost every day dropped by 11%<\/strong>.\n  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/thedailystat\">The Daily Stat<\/a> for more fun numbers. Scheduling an eight-hour workday is wasting precious hours from your life. If you change how you evaluate your efforts, <strong>finishing eight hours of work in 3-4 hours is probable<\/strong>. You might even be able to increase your total output while reducing the amount you work.\n  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.techcrunch.com\/2009\/05\/06\/for-books-available-on-kindle-sales-are-now-tracking-at-35-percent-of-print-sales\/\">This internet is killing us! Oh, wait&#8230;<\/a><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\n    For books that are available on the Kindle, sa<strong>les are already 35 percent of the same books in print<\/strong>, <strong>up from 13 percent just a few months ago<\/strong>. In other words, <strong>if a paper book sells 10,000 copies on Amazon, it will sell an additional 3,500 digital copies on the Kindle<\/strong>. Let me repeat that, digital books via the Kindle are selling at 35 percent the level of physical books 18 months after launch.\n  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.texastechpulse.com\/vignette_acquired_by_opentext\/s-0021508.html\">We Finally Met!<\/a><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\n    Austin-based Vignette, a developer of web content management software, has been acquired by Open Text in <strong>a deal worth approximately $310M<\/strong>. According to Open Text, it will pay <strong>$8.00 in cash plus 0.1447 of Open Text common shares for every Vignette common share<\/strong>.\n  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>See also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.texastechpulse.com\/borland_acquired_by_micro_focus_for_7_m\/s-0021496.html\">Borland<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.statesman.com\/blogs\/content\/shared-gen\/blogs\/austin\/theticker\/entries\/2009\/05\/06\/vignette_to_be_acquired_by_ope.html?cxntfid=blogs_statesman_business_blog\">the local paper&#8217;s wrap-up<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/theagileexecutive.com\/2009\/05\/02\/standish-group-more-projects-failing\/\">These Guys Are Always Gloomy<\/a><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\n    \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.standishgroup.com\/newsroom\/chaos_2009.php\">This year\u2019s results<\/a> show a marked decrease in project success rates, with <strong>32% of all projects succeeding<\/strong> which are delivered on time, on budget, with required features and functions\u201d says Jim Johnson, chairman of The Standish Group, <strong>\u201c44% were challenged which are late, over budget<\/strong>, and\/or with less than the required features and functions and <strong>24% failed<\/strong> which are cancelled prior to completion or delivered and never used.&#8221;\n  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/04\/28\/health\/28brod.html?_r=2\">Hotdogs Once a Month<\/a><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\n    To prevent premature deaths related to red and processed meats, Dr. Popkin suggested in an interview that people should ea<strong>t a hamburger only once or twice a week instead of every day<\/strong>, <strong>a small steak once a week instead of every other day<\/strong>, and <strong>a hot dog every month and a half instead of once a week<\/strong>.\n  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.psfk.com\/2009\/04\/etsy-sales-grow-18-month-on-month.html\">Etsy<\/a><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\n    Craft marketplace Etsy have released their latest sales and stats figures which includes an impressive figure for growth at the site. In March, <strong>$12 million of goods were sold<\/strong> &#8211; almost <strong>18% highe<\/strong>r than <strong>February\u2019s $10.2 million.<\/strong> March saw <strong>788, 253 sold and 1,321,317 listed<\/strong>. We guess that makes the <strong>average price of a good on Etsy $15.22<\/strong>.\n  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stepthreeprofit.com\/2009\/04\/truth-about-consume-bandwidth-pricing.html\">Free TV for $480\/gig<\/a><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\n    On the bottom is gigabytes and on the left is dollars. Yes, dollars. <strong>300 GB would costs you $140,000 on AT&amp;T 3G<\/strong>. You&#8217;ll notice that only the 3G providers show up at all, everything else being squished into a single line on the bottom. This is because while Time Warner is charges overages of <strong>$1\/GB<\/strong>, Sprint is charging <strong>$50\/GB<\/strong>, Verison $<strong>280\/GB<\/strong>, and AT&amp;T a ridiculous <strong>$480\/GB<\/strong> after you exceed the <strong>5GB cap<\/strong>. Everyone is mad about the Time Warner caps, but it&#8217;s really the 3G caps that are totally insane. Every iPhone user is on AT&amp;T, so when Hulu for iPhone comes out it&#8217;s going to be crazy.\n  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/05\/02\/business\/02dollar.html?partner=rss&amp;emc=rss\">Dollah, Dollah-bill, y&#8217;all!<\/a><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\n    Dollar General, long part of that select club of the<strong>500 biggest American companies<\/strong>, appears on this year\u2019s list at <strong>No. 259, up 15 places from last year<\/strong>. And Dollar Tree landed on the list for the first time, at <strong>No. 499<\/strong>.
