The two threads of interest are <a href=\"http:\/\/open-management.com\/pipermail\/discuss_open-management.com\/2006-June\/000013.html\">Backend Format<\/a> and  the aptly titled <a href=\"http:\/\/open-management.com\/pipermail\/discuss_open-management.com\/2006-June\/000027.html\">Backend Format &#8211; 2<\/a>, both started by Stanislav Ievlev, of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.altlinux.org\">ALT Linux<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So far, XML-RPC has been thrown around the most as a potential candidate: <a href=\"http:\/\/open-management.com\/pipermail\/discuss_open-management.com\/2006-June\/000020.html\">it&#8217;s out of the box data types take care of the design work for you, though they can be limiting for more complex data structures<\/a>. And, as ever, <a href=\"http:\/\/open-management.com\/pipermail\/discuss_open-management.com\/2006-June\/000026.html\">there are security configuration concerns<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now&#8217;s your chance to get involved with the OMC. I know several people are looking at opening up their systems management platforms. Having sent people to all sorts of WS-* and other committees with slow results in code, this could be the chance to find out how the emergent, open source world communities hash things out quickly and innovates.<\/p>\n<p>For example, it&#8217;d be a good chance for <a href=\"http:\/\/open-management.com\/2006\/05\/18\/yes-bmc-agrees-that-we-exist-in-symbiosis\/\">BMC to make the jump from blog post to implementation<\/a>. Any other of The Big 4 could do the same.
