  1. but we both loved strange and norrell… and i would be really shocked if you didn’t enjoy Lethem’s work- a very rich tapestry indeed, happy to bring “genre fiction” modes into his work. just awesome. start with Motherless Brooklyn – stunningly good.

    interesting to me. i was just reading two novels at the same time – Michael Marshall Smith’s Bad Things, and William Gibson’s Spook Country. Gibson is a more astute commentator on culture (one of the sharpest minds out there. what a radar!), but Smith writes a better story, with more of a focus on the human condition. suffice to say i finished Bad Things first…
