Not only does it seems to run Ubuntu just fine (which I know you'll like) but it works really well with OpenSolaris and Solaris guests too. Things I find invaluable in OS X (bear in mind I only use it for video editing of game film for coaching) are; VLC, MPEGStreamClip, ffmpegX, Handbrake, Transmission, VisualDub, Vine VNC server, Chicken of the VNC (I kid you not).
