Paul: I think it will be a while (if ever) before a good set of hacks is figured out to put a linux distro on the 'Air'. It will take a while for enough 'Air's to get shipped and then only a tiny fraction will every see an OS other than Apple's.

Stephen: As for 'Do', I guess I missed something. I tried it out and after a couple of days concluded I knew more about where stuff was than it did. It went the way of Synaptic's "Remove Completely".

You could always run Linux on a MacBook Air (presuming it fits your criteria - not sure what the wireless chipset is yet). I'm sure the relevant hacks for Ubuntu and Fedora, if any are needed, will start appearing soon.

Single mouse key? Easy to remap the mini enter key to the right of the keyboard to be right click (wtf is that for anyway) - takes a couple of days to get used to but actually starts to feel convenient after a while.

However I would have thought that 2G RAM would be too puny for your VM usage, and in general I'm still not convinced by a single USB port. It won't be replacing my MacBook anytime soon for sure.
